You don't necessarily need to have a separate electricity meter for your wallbox. Our combined rate plan allows you to supply both your home and your wallbox with electricity. However, in most cases, rates for charging electricity with a separate meter are cheaper, as they include reduced grid fees.

To calculate the additional electricity consumption of your electric car or plug-in hybrid, you should know how much electricity your car consumes per 100 km. For example, if your car consumes 20 kWh per 100 km and you drive 15,000 km per year, your additional consumption amounts to 3,000 kWh.

Yes, in Germany, it is mandatory to register a wallbox with the relevant grid operator. Wallboxes with a charging capacity of 11 kW are the most common and are subject only to a reporting requirement, unlike the more powerful 22 kW boxes, which require a permit.
